The Warner Robins Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is currently accepting applications for our Delta Academy and GEMS mentoring program for the 2019-2020 session. Applications are due October 1, 2019. Applications are now closed. The Dr. Betty Shabazz Delta Academy program – themed “The Transformation of Me…Knowing Me (self-esteem, decision making, relationships); Developing Me (body image, sexual health, and nutrition/fitness); Preparing Me (leadership development, community action/advocacy, STEM & non-traditional careers).” – is for girls ages 11 – 14. The goals of the program are to enrich and enhance the education that students receive in schools by augmenting scholarship in math, science and technology and also providing learning opportunities for public service. On Saturday, September 28, 2019, the Warner Robins Alumnae Chapter (WRAC) of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated will host our first annual Peach Classic 5K Walk/Run and Fun Run at the Houston County Galleria in Centerville, Georgia. Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a private, non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. The major programs of the sorority are based upon the organization’s Five Point Programmatic Thrust: Economic Development, Educational Development, International Awareness and Involvement, Physical and Mental Health, and Political Awareness and Involvement. For over 30 years, the WRAC has actively served Houston, Bleckley, and Pulaski Counties through various community programs to include: Annual Scholarships ($150K+ awarded to college bound students since inception) Annual Poetry/Art contest (Grades K-12) Delta Academy/GEMS Mentoring Program (young girls age 11-18)Additional programs are highlighted on the attached flyer.We appreciate your support.
